Moving Day Holiday!

Yay! It's Moving Day Holiday!

This is welcome for several reasons: (1) We're finally moving back to The Barn. They kicked us out in June so they could seismically retrofit it. Because, you know, there are so many earthquakes in the Central Valley! We've been temporarily housed in yucky old Kerr Hall for the meantime. We all prefer the location of Kerr Hall over that of The Barn. It's much more centrally located, and is closer to better, cheaper coffee. But Kerr itself sucks. It's old, it's largely vacant (which comes in handy when the police use it for terrorist take-over training), it's often burgled, and I think I'm allergic to it. All in all, I'm glad to be moving back to The Barn. I can put up with Silo coffee.

The other great thing about moving (2) is that we've been told not to come to work today. It's very important for us to stay out of the way of the university movers. I'm down with that!

When we moved the first time in June, I treated moving day as a true holiday (I needed the rest from fieldwork anyway), but today I have grand plans of learning. I'm going to see how much of a Wetlands Ecology textbook I can tackle. And even though I was a little distracted in the morning by taking more action shots of Ozzie (he's actually moving in these! And my new camera does a much better job of capturing that movement than the old one did!), I've actually gotten through 120 pages so far. Let's see how productive the afternoon will be. But first, I think I'll be naughty and make coffee :D.
