Mint It's-its!
I had never heard of an It's-it before I went to Stanford. In fact, I believe it was not until my senior year at Stanford that I discovered them. (yay Manzanita dining commons for having It's-its!)
But what a discovery it was! I looove It's-its! My life must have been empty, meaningless for the 21 years before I had one.
It's-its are the greatest ice cream sandwich treat. They're even better than the Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches that I love getting at gas stations (especially the Crane Flat gas station in Yosemite where they're tradition). It's-its are amazing. Unfortunately, they're very little known, and perhaps completely unavailable outside of Northern California. So you poor Georgia folks are just going to have to take my word on how great they are. (Although my intention is actually to pursuade you to come visit me so I can treat you to an It's-it and you can discover their joy yourself! Seeing as my presence has proven to not be enough to lure you out here.... Surely my presence + It's-its are!)
Anyway, you poor Georgia folks are probably dying to know what an It's-it is by this point. That is, if you haven't already learned by following the link in the first paragraph... An It's-it is ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies, and the whole shebang is dipped in chocolate.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The most common is the vanilla It's-it, but there are also ones with mint ice cream. I hadn't seen a mint It's-it in years, however (and not for lack of looking, it's been a major quest of Jenny's and mine), so I was starting to think that they no longer existed. Alas.
That is, I worried about the demise of mint It's-its until I discovered the It's-it website last week. I'd searched for one before, and though I found websites about It's-its, I never found an actual It's-it website. Happily, they now have one. And happily, I saw that you can order mint It's-its online. Of course, I don't plan to have any frozen treats shipped to me, especially not in the obligatory 24-packs (although, 24 mint It's-its doesn't sound like too many... Maybe if I evict everything else in the freezer...), but I was very glad to learn that they do still exist. Yay.
Incidentally, you can also order t-shirts from the It's-it website. I'd really love to have an It's-it t-shirt. I think it would go so well with my Jelly Belly t-shirt. It would really contribute a theme to my wardrobe. If any of you out there feel the need to get me a present but have no idea what, there you go.
After dinner today, Colleenie and I were wandering around downtown, wasting time before she had to go to the airport (sniff). Colleenie loves greeting cards, so I suggested we browse through Newsbeat, a really cool store with tons of great, quirky cards that for some reason I haven't wandered through for years. Anyway, while there, I noticed that they have mint It's-its! In fact, they have all It's-it flavors! (Interestingly, their Davis wiki entry (the largest city wiki :D) which I just found cites the amazing It's-it selection as one of the store's highlights.) I'm so excited! Now I can get mint It's-its whenever I want! And don't think I won't!
