Back down to safe levels

We are back to having only two cats in the house. Chula has gone back to her family in Tahoe. Although Mitzi will certainly be glad, she never warmed up to Chula at all, I think the net result will be overwhelmingly negative.

Mitzi doesn't realize the indirect benefits of having Chula around. You see, Chula and Ozzie were friends. Chula would let Ozzie wrestle with her, which definitely reduced his antagonism towards Mitzi. Ozzie and Chula would also snuggle together a little bit. It was really cute. Not too much on their own, but they would both sit on my lap together if I was hanging out in my papasan chair in the living room.

So Ozzie will be sad that his buddy is gone. Mitzi will be harassed more by Ozzie. And I think that Chula isn't getting any favors from this deal either. With her family in Tahoe, she never leaves the closet. She shares the house with a kitten, two large dogs, and two toddlers. It's definitely not a cat-friendly environment. But with us, after the first little while, she spent most of her time out of the closet! She roamed around. She socialized. She made friends with Ozzie, who is also the first cat-friend she's ever had.

Poor Ozzie. Poor Mitzi. Poor Chula.
