Going postal
In case any of you have wondered about the lack of postal love, it's all the post office's fault. As I'm sure you are all aware, postage went up last month. That extra 2¢ for first class mail is old news. But what many people don't realize is that postage also went up 1¢ for postcards. And though the post office was prepared with many 2¢ stamps and already offering a selection of different 39¢ stamps, they have yet to issue any new postcard stamps. Still! It's been a month! It is inexcusable for them to increase the rate and not have appropriate stamps ready. Inexcusable!
In protest, I refuse to send any postcards until 24¢ stamps exist. I used up all of my 23 centers before the increase. And besides, even if I had any, postcards aren't big enough to accomodate TWO stamps. And it is inconceivable that I would use a first class stamp for a postcard and waste the 13¢. Not to mention that I only have cool first class stamps (like the Muppets!), which are too big to really want on a postcard anyway. I suppose I could just continue sending postcards with 23¢ stamps. They don't have a return address. It would never get back to me. But what happens in those instances is the post office charges the recipient for any due postage. It's happened to me. People may soon stop getting that rush of glee that they receive from my postcards if they had to pay a penny for them.
And so I suffer. Really, it's very tough on me to not be able to send postcards!
