Pruning
Yawn.
I don't know if my project's going to work. I'm trying to map an invasive species using hyperspectral imagery, but I don't think my field data is good enough for it to be successful. Well, the problem is that it isn't my data. It turns out that the portion of the project I'm working on isn't actually being funded, so I'm just doing it as a favor to CDFA and for my own gratification. Which means that we can't do fieldwork to collect training and validation data for it. Fortunately, there's another group on campus who has a data layer of this weed that's actually contained within our flightlines, and they're kind enough to let me borrow their data. I'm sure it's great data for whatever purposes they collected it, but it was definitely not gathered wtih remote sensing in mind. For instance, a lot of the points fall under a tree canopy. Yeah... Reflectance imagery can't see through trees... D'oh! So today I'm going through the 1000 some points weeding out all of the ones that are forested.
And speaking of weeds... I'm going to be the cutest weed scientist in Denver next week! John and I were colossally successful at finding an outfit for me to wear. My business casual ensemble is: black pants, a white button-up shirt with a light pink v-neck cashmere sweater, and lime green lucky lobster socks (gotta have something quirky!). The sweater has a little heart on the back, but it's the same color and fabric as the rest of the sweater, so it's very subtle. I look so professional!! I might not even put my hair in a ponytail! =)

Not a pony tail? What do we get next? a professional-looking lucky lobster bun? :)
