Maybe

So my maybe-date is tonight. We're going to go see Romeo & Juliet at the Sacramento Ballet. I asked this amazingly hot guy (just ask Jenny how cute he is) if he wanted to use my spare ticket. And he said yes! But you know all about that already.

I asked him by email. Is that lame? I would've done it in person, except I was worried about being overheard by certain annoying 15 year olds and being mocked for the rest of my life. It would certainly have resurrected the beaten-to-death topic of Ycletis. And that just wouldn't do.

So anyway, I asked him out by email. And as you may know, when in doubt, I tend to turn to flippancy. So to strengthen my petition, I made a list of silly "special features" that may be a part of going to the ballet with me. One of them was a "ride in the coolest car ever!". Well, Steggie is undeniably the coolest car ever; there's no doubt in my mind about that. But upon close inspection, she's also quite a dirty car. Yes, she definitely needed to be washed. And come to think about it, she also needed waxing; it had been over 1.5 years since her last buff. So since we had this maybe-date coming up, I decided to wash (& wax) Steggie yesterday. Don't think we're pathetic! I wouldn't have washed and definitely wouldn't have waxed her solely because of this "date". She did really, really need it. Plus, after touting her as the coolest car in the world, I'd hate for her to make a poor impression because of her outward filth. Of course, if he so much as considered judging Steggie to be anything less than the coolest car in the world on the sole basis of a dirty exterior, it would definitely NOT be a date! =)

So now Steggie is GORGEOUS! I looooove the way she looks clean. And waxed is even better! It rubs off all the dirt that washing doesn't remove, like the stains left by our horrifically hard water. She's such a nicer color when she's clean. A lot bluer. You don't even notice how dirty she is because it's usually a continuous coat that slowly and subtly alters her color. And despite the menial labor, I love washing a very dirty Steggie. I think it's because I'm impatient. There's nothing so instantly gratifying as wiping her with your sponge and revealing a streak of a distinctly different and better color!

But back to the maybe-date. This is the best part. When he said yes, he did so by saying that the last special feature: "a rare opportunity to see me in a dress and heels", was the selling point! Such a perfect response!!
