Printing press
The book that I'm currently reading has a few errors in it. Errors associated with the typesetting. It is an old book, my edition was printed in 1971, so I suppose printing presses were more likely to make errors of this sort back then, before the widespread advent of computers and the like. This is not the first time that a book I've read has had problems. Remember the bookstore where I had purchased it had another copy, so I was able to trade it in. My current book's problem isn't so severe. So other year when the book I was reading was missing chunks of pages, and duplicated other bunches? Fortunately the used
far there have been two instances of it within 170 pages. We'll see if it happens again in the next (and last) 70. But I'm not going to tell you what it is. Instead, I'm going to write this post in its style, so that you can figure it out on your own. Sleuth away!
It's an excellent book: The Small Bachelor, by P.G. Wodehouse. I love Wodehouse novels. They never fail to entertain. Perhaps fantastic writing style. It's very whimsical, very flippant. His prose just speeds right by. I was so happy to find this book in my you are familiar with his most favorite characters: Bertie Wooster and especially the inestimable Jeeves? Wodehouse has a
shelf last night. I was exhausted, having gotten little sleep the night before (it being the eve and dawn of the new year, and all), but felt that going to bed at 7 would probably not be the best course of action. But I didn't feel like watching tv, since sitting around on the couch probably would do little to rouse me. Reading seemed like the best pursuit, but it would depend very critically on the book chosen. Dostoevsky probably would not be the best thing to read when drowsy. Alas, I have very few supposedly delivered 12 days ago, yet are not present at my house... Something else to sleuth up). Fortunately I have a few books to choose from right now, due to the appalling disappearance of a parcel of books ordered from amazon (they were
old books of my mom's on my shelves that I haven't yet read, and even more fortunately one of them was a P.G. Wodehouse! A P.G. Wodehouse book is sure to snatch you right out of a torpor or lassitude! Definitely check one (or many) out!
(unfortunately, my recreation of the error won't really work unless your screen is the same size/resolution as mine... Oh well. You can still figure it out =) )
