I have a cold. Blah. I'm still trying to decide who to blame. I have several choices:
- Jenny - Jenny had a cold the other week when we were all up at Yosemite celebrating Thanksgiving. And she drove Steggie on Friday when we went down to the Valley, so she had plenty of opportunities to smear the steering wheel with germs. On a slight tangent, Steggie was the cool car in oh-so-many ways that day. We took 2 cars down to the Valley, rather than squeeze 8 people into one (which is potentially dangerous on those curvy roads with multiple people susceptible to motion sickness...). Steggie was one of them, an Xterra the other. Oh yeah, hybrids are just infinitely better than SUVs! We also had the larger music selection and more "interesting" topics of conversation. Go cool car Steggie!
- Cara, my ballet teacher - Cara also had a cold the week of Thanksgiving, continuing into the beginning of last week. I kept getting in trouble for making her laugh on Monday since laughing made her cough. I didn't even do anything! Just maybe make a face about how long she was making us hold the echappe in one combination... But then there was no stopping her. Every time she looked at me she cracked (and coughed) up. The strange thing is that when I intentionally made her laugh (like by asking if Wili arms were supposed to give us cleavage or when I boogied to the African drummers in the next studio over) she wouldn't cough. Weird.
- Chester - Yes, that's right, the dog. He sneezed on me Friday night shortly before my symptoms took hold. Coincidence? You tell me!
So I'm trying to cut my germies off at the pass so that it never makes it to the next stage of proliferation/misery. I've disallowed the consumption of any caffeinated beverage until I'm healthy again. I'm drinking loads of beneficial fluids like water and herbal teas. And I went to the grocery store this morning to stock up on juice so that there is a veritable vitamin C orgy going on here. Cassie says that raw garlic has lots of healing powers, so she convinced me to eat a clove of it yesterday. I picked through it till I found a small one, and swallowed it whole like a pill. Hopefully that way I won't smell too much like garlic. But I love the smell of garlic, so I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if I did... Plus I'm making chicken noodle soup for this week's dinners. Hopefully if I follow enough of these old home remedies and psychosomatic things, I won't have to go to a real doctor!
Sock of the day!! I'm going to Carolyn's dance performance with Carol-Anne this evening, so I decided to wear my most demure pair of socks. These are navy blue crew socks with alternating bands of snowflakes and penguins.
