Stuffed with stockings

For about a decade, I basically only wore boring, white, crew socks. This was a legacy from PE. Our PE dress code specified that socks must be white. Otherwise the dyes could cause our feet to mold. I'm not sure if there was any scientific basis to that claim, but nevertheless, it severely cramped my feet's creativity. Unfortunately, despite the fact that I have not taken PE since I was 15, my socks remained boring and white for years afterward. Finally, in grad school, I have broken free!

Now all of my socks are interesting! Many of them have cute little animals on them. And I have far more pairs of socks than my laundry cycle requires. But hey, it allows additional variety =). I was delighted to discover last year the amazing sock select at Target. I mean, who'd've thunk? Walmart seems to mostly have your average boring selection: athletic white or business dark. But Target is incredible! I highly recommend all of you to check out the women's sock selection at Target. You won't be disappointed! The great thing about Target socks is that not only do they have fabulously fun decorations, they're also cheap so you can get lots of them! But due to the crowding of my socks & undies drawer, I generally cannot allow myself to go to Target. Today I granted an exception. It came to my attention that most of my incredible socks are summer socks. That I woefully lack winter socks, and especially that I have no knee socks. I used to love knee socks when I was a kid! But I haven't had any since 6th grade PE denied me color.

To illuminate you all on my sock collection, and also to promote more regular posting on my part, I've decided to initiate a sock of the day program. Yep. Check in here to discover what socks I'm wearing on a (maybe not quite) daily basis! Here's today's pair:

Red & white candy cane striped knee socks. (that's right, I was so excited I changed into them after returning from Target). They're rather Wicked Witch of the East -esque!

So great!
