Happy day!
I'm soooo happy! Yesterday I learned that they're going to let me adopt the kitten I fell in love with! His foster parents think I'm nice and that I'll make a good kittie-mommy. Yayayayay! I'm so excited. He still needs to be vaccinated and neutered, so I won't get him for another couple weeks. But that's actually good. Our house is kind of a federal aid zone right now since our kitchen is being remodeled. (briefly: to save money, it's being done by the guys who replaced our windows in their free time. Unfortunately, so far they've only had time to come in and tear out all the old fixtures, and haven't come back yet to give us a kitchen again. It's been 2 weeks already! sigh). This should be fixed by the time the kittie is ready though. Also, since I'll be in Florida part of this week, it's good that we won't have him yet. I'd hate to miss out on any quality time with my new kitten!
Other good news is that I just submitted my application for the NSF fellowship. Everyone cross your fingers for me!
Also, I practiced my presentation at project meeting today. It went well, though it was over the time limit. Gotta see what I can do to avoid that. Talk even faster? oh boy!
Of course, nothing earthly is perfect, and today is no exception. For instance, I had to go to Statistics =P. Although luckily, the professor is letting me turn in my homework next Monday instead of Friday, since I'll be in Florida and won't be able to do it in time. Yay. Additionally, ants have somehow found their way into my bathroom. Presumably they like it there since that's where I wash dishes now that we have no kitchen sink. (word to the wise: don't pour boiling water down the bathtub drain.) I have no idea how the ants have gotten to my bathroom, which is centrally located, without being anywhere else in the house. Crafty little buggers! Anyway, I'm inundating them with soap solution to halt the infestation. I also hear that you should leave the corpses lying around to discourage any future scouts (don't worry, killing them isn't an ethical problem. They're invasive species, so they should be eliminated!). So now my bathroom counter has a battalion of dead, but squeaky clean Argentine ants! Fabulous.
