For paradigm shifts you have to have people die
It's bizarrely cloudy right now. Very cloudy. Gloomy, blanketing stratus clouds, not cute, wispy little cirrus (I love those!). Very odd. Sure, stratus clouds are a commonplace occurrence in California. But only seasonally so. That's winter. This is summer. So why the clouds? Although, we have had strange weather this year. Yet another manifestation of El Nino, they say. Our winter was very dry, and then our spring very rainy. As if things just got phase shifted by a season. But that still doesn't explain today's clouds.
So I checked the weather channel's website. It's predicting thunderstorms!! There are never thunderstorms in California! (At least, not unless you're in the mountains, which Davis certainly is not). How exciting! In the 5 years that I've been in the state, I've probably only heard thunder 3 or 4 times. And it always takes a little while to figure out what it is, since it never thunders here. I miss thunderstorms! They're so exciting. Oh, the days when we'd get severe thunderstorms in Georgia... Mitzi and I would protect each other (though of course, Mitzi neither wanted protection, nor especially the hugging that it typically took on). My mom had this horrid weather radio. It would erupt in loud alarms whenever something untoward was coming through Northern Georgia. Tornados, potential tornados, severe thunderstorms, flash floods, the whole shebang. Which is slightly problematic, since it would always scare the daylights out of me when it was perfectly gorgeous in Athens, and only remote, podunk areas were threatened. And they also tested it on Wednesday mornings. Took me a long time to realize it was just a test.... Did NOT help with my paranoia...
Ooh, this just in. The UPS guy who's delivering something reports that it's sprinkling. We just might get a little wet going home. And I just washed & waxed Steggie too! I'll be able to see if water really does bead up on her super buffed surface.
Oh gosh, she's so pretty. She's a nicer color when she's clean. There's more blue in her. And waxing made her ultra-clean. There's no way to get her clean by washing here, since the water's so nasty. Even if you towel dry her, there will still be white speckles from our lovely agricultural sludge water. But waxing made that all go away! She's so clean and pretty and shiney and smooth. But after even one day, the nasty particulate air here caused her to hopelessly fail the white glove test. In fact, not even. She hopelessly failed the pinky-peachish-ungloved finger test. But she's still clean and pretty and shiney and smooth on her non-horizontal surfaces. So just don't look at her roof =).
Oh, the summer is super boring. So we'll all just have to cope with these lackluster updates =P.
ps - tricked ya! It's not really Tuesday, like blogger thinks. It's Wednesday =D. heeheehee
