> belated weekend post
On the off chance that anybody actually reads this, that anybody is so bored or cares so much about my life that they obsessively check to see if I've updated my weblog, I apologize for the prolonged silence. I went back to the Bay Area for the weekend. It was super! But I didn't get nearly enough work done, and am feeling a little frantic now... =P
Friday night Jed had a slumber party, so I got to hang out with Donia instead. It was great! I know that if it weren't for conflicts like that, I would pretty much only see Jed when I go back, so it's good to be able to play with my other friends. Donia got me caught up on some of the gossip (because hey, that's what we do when we're not dancing...). Much fun, much fun.
On Saturday Campbell, Adam, Jed and I went to French Laundry in Napa for lunch. Wowee! Campbell had somehow heard of it (well, lots of people have heard of it) and decided she wanted to go sometime, so Adam was a superstar and called repeatedly for over an hour until he was able to get through and make a reservation (2 months in advance, if you're curious). And I was so lucky as to not have a field trip the same weekend!! So yeah, the place was incredible. It's one of the top 10 restaurants in the entire country! We had a nine course lunch. And of course, every single course was superb. The wine steward touted our selection as the "most dynamic wine" on their menu. It was darn good. And managed to avoid a triple digit price tag too. There ya go! (Adam actually wanted to ask about the second most dynamic wine on the menu, but luckily Campbell prevented him from getting a word in edgewise.) The people at the table next to us were pretty creepy though. This one lady kept turning around (we're talking 180 degrees here) and looking at us! Shudder.
On Sunday Donia's new swing group which is replacing Vintage, Double or Nothing, was holding auditions. Jed was thinking he might want to join, so we went. Of course, since I'm no longer in the Bay Area I didn't audition (though Donia says I can be a guest star =) ). I got to be a helper instead! An auditioner rather than an auditionee! I just really needed to dance =). I think next week I might try to check out the swing venues in Davis.... It was lots of fun. Great to see some people again, to schmooze. But I am so getting old. Blech. I didn't recognize at least half of the kiddles auditioning... Oh well.
Then Jed and I had an adventure dinner! Yay! My favorite! (and pearl milk tea too, of course.)
Wining and dining
